Frequently Asked Questions
-
What inspires you to paint?
My surroundings in Northern California inspire much of my work—from serene landscapes and gentle seascapes to everyday objects, people, pets, and wildlife. My watercolor art is known for it’s soft textures and thoughtful details —created with intention to spark joy and remind us to find beauty in the simple wonders all around us.
-
Do you accept commissions?
Yes! I love working on commissioned pieces. Just reach out via my contact form on the Request A Custom Painting page and I’ll provide a quote. I look forward to creating a meaningful one-of-a-kind watercolor painting designed especially for you!
Note: A 50% non-refundable deposit will begin the creation process. The remaining balance will be due upon completion of the artwork.
-
How long does a commission take?
Timing depends on the size and complexity of the piece, as well as my current project load. Typically, commissions take anywhere from 4–8 weeks from initial concept to final delivery, but I'll give you a more specific timeline when we talk. Request a custom painting here→
-
How are the items you offer produced?
Beyond wall art, my watercolor paintings are thoughtfully transformed into a variety of unique woven and printed home and lifestyle items, bringing a bit of artistic charm to your everyday life. These items are created once an order is placed. My production partners include Fine Art America, Amazon*, and Printify*.

-
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes! Digital gift cards allow your loved ones to select from original watercolor paintings and a variety of thoughtfully designed products available in my online shop. After a gift card is purchased, a unique code will be emailed to you — or sent directly to your recipient if you enter their email at checkout. To redeem, your recipient simply enters the digital code during checkout at artbykatiekight.com
Note: Please review the list of items that are eligible or not valid for purchasing with a digital gift card.
-
How should I care for my watercolor paintings?
I recommend displaying your original watercolor paintings away from direct sunlight and avoid hanging in high-humidity areas. I sell my framed original paintings with a mat which adds to the aesthetic of the framed art and provides a barrier between the painting and the glass.
-
Do you illustrate children's books?
Yes, I do! Authors and Publishers, let’s work together to bring your children’s book to life with beautiful engaging watercolor art. My goal is to capture the heart of your story and create artwork that connects with readers of all ages. I’m here to collaborate closely with you to ensure the illustrations complement your vision for the story. Please contact me with details about your story and expectations. I look forward to working with you!
-
What payment methods do you accept?
Major credit cards are accepted.
Checkout fulfillment varies depending on the items you are purchasing. Checkout fulfillment services include: artbykatiekight.com, Amazon, Fine Art America.
-
How long will it take to receive my order?
Keep in mind that most items are either made to order or individually prepared before shipping. Please allow approximately 2–3 weeks for items that are made once an order is placed. Available original paintings and items that are premade will be shipped within 3-days. A specific timeline will be discussed for commissioned paintings.
Note: Orders are shipped via USPS, UPS, or FedEx. Shipping times vary by location and carrier.
-
Can I return or exchange items?
Because of the nature of the products — original artwork and made-to-order pieces — returns, exchanges, or cancellations once an order has been placed are not accepted.
Please review all product details carefully before completing your purchase. If you have any questions about an item or would like to see additional photos or information before buying, feel free to contact me — I’m happy to help ensure you have all the details you need prior to ordering.
In the rare event that your order arrives damaged or defective, please contact me at katie@artbykatiekight.com within 7 days of delivery with photos and description of the issue so I can review and determine an appropriate solution.
Please review the full Terms and Conditions for further details.→
